Very Useful

This app is a nice way to get introduced to coding, i highly recommend it

Good job

App really user friendly! Great job to explain new language

Amazing!

This is the best app for learning Swift that I have come across.

Fun Tutorial and Quick Responses

I noticed this app recently and was pleasantly surprised with how nice a tutorial for coding this is. Its true that it doesnt explain everything before asking you to solve it, but thats part of the learning. We learn more through doing than through reading long explanations of what to do. I was also very pleased with the speed at which my feedback received a reply.

Syntax overview mostly, not a great introduction

Swifty is a bizarre app. Its meant to be an introduction to the language, and mostly serves as a brief overview of the syntax with a focus on some of Swifts unique features, like optional a and closures. But the instruction is pretty poor overall. It strives to be casual in tone, at the expense of clarity. It seems to assume little to no programming experience at some points, but then expects you to understand some fairly minute details at others. Because it cant actually compile or run swift scripts (an Apple limitation to be sure) its limited to some pretty rudimentary code samples that dont do much to advance learning. Worst, though, are the quizzes at the end of each chapter. The author seems more interested in being clever than helping the user understand the topic, to the point of absolute frustration. If all you want is a high level overview of some of Swifts syntax, you could spend a few bucks and a couple of hours on this. Or you could download the free introduction from Apple on iBooks and actually learn Swift.

Not that good

But a if fan.

50-50 on Swifty

Swifty has a nice clean interface and uses easy, small chunks learning techniques along a learning tree very much a la Duolingo. It goes through all the basics of Swift in a fairly clear manner. The downside has been well documented in the reviews. It cant actually compile (not its fault) so its not for practicing. The quizzes are extremely annoying and not terribly useful. Constant game of "gotcha". Im impressed by the use of the correct color coding to help instill that but the constant use of monospace type is a bit hard to read when its conversational. Leave the monospace to the code and use regular olde kerned text when explaining things. Is uneven in its explanations, as has been mentioned frequently. I would love to see some more explanation of things, longer paragraphs, more information to help orient the code newbie. Im so happy to see an app that really attempts to teach a computer science topic in a very approachable way. Im also happy to see how inexpensive it is... It really is. I think its completely worth it. But as others have said, the free book in the iBooks store is fantastic and you can read it on all your devices.

Great App to Learn Swift

Its simple and approachable. I learned Swift in about 1.2 days because of this. Great tool for learning a language

Thank You Sir!

You introduced me into programming, I started from running snippets on playground and now I am learning advanced stuff using Stanfords iOS course and other resources, and I am thinking of my career as a programmer. What else you could do? Thank you a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fun intro to Swift.

I liked this app a lot. It wont make you a programmer overnight, but its a nice overview of the basics in bite-size lessons. I like the Compendium at the end of each chapter, allowing you to quickly reference that chapters concepts. I HIGHLY recommend you try the examples for yourself. I dont have a Mac, but was able to try out all the examples online with pages like SwiftStub.

Totally dig it

I dont usually write reviews, but this tutorial was pretty great and thought I would be extra charitable. This app Made my train ride a learning experience. Good job

Great!

This is an excellent introduction to the Swift programming language. Im mainly writing this review to address another review which states that the developer is greedy because he forces you to buy lessons individually. This is a blatant lie, as you can see if you look at the In-App Purchases section on this App Store page. I bought all lessons at once.

Great Swift Overview/Review!

Im taking some Swift courses online (Thinkful, Udacity, TeamTreehouse) and this app provides an awesome tool for reviewing Swift basics/syntax when away from my MacBook.

Keep it up!

Great app and its regularly updated and maintained. These guys are active on Twitter too and quick to respond to feedback.

Great and lovely

Lovely characterized app to learn programming (best regards swifty)

Great fun

This is a fun way to learn coding swift without feeling overwhelmed by learning a new language. And by new language I dont mean a new coding language but a completely new language altogether. For those whove never coded the thought of it can be daunting. Very scary stuff that tends to make folks just give up on the idea. This app takes those fears away. Clear and concise and even fun! Great job on the app. Please keep the updates coming!

Great app!

Great app! Im learning all the concepts of swift easily and its fun.

Amazing app & wonderful customer service

SWIFTY is amazing! I am new new to coding and SWIFTY is simple, elegant, and extremely educational. Not only is this app. AWESOME and their customer service is just as fabulous.

Slight glitch

Good app, fun an easy to use and learn about coding. But I got every answer right on that first quiz and it gave me a 2/8. When I clicked it, it said wrong and told me what the answer should have been but you can clearly see thats the answer I picked. But Ill keep using it because I really like it!

Such a well done app

Made learning code so much easier and more fun than all the other websites Ive tried
